Internet of Things (IoT) Certificate Program Focus


The Nevada Technology Academy IOT certificate program focuses on hands-on experience. Students will have regular lab work and will learn basic electronics skills, test and measurement skills, basic light fabrication skills including 3D printing. The program teaches the application of programming and integrating sensors to devices which provides real-world IOT experience. Students will learn and experiment with industrial control, process control and automation.

The curriculum is comprised of 390 clock hours) and includes the following courses:
  • Intro Software Development and Coding in C++
  • Coding in C# for Embedded Systems
  • Coding in Python
  • Web Development using PHP and MySQL
  • Basic Math for Electronics
  • Overview of IT Essentials, Network+ and Security+
  • Raspberry pi, Arduino and others
  • Introduction to Linux

Internet of Things (IoT) Hardware Certificate Program Curriculum

The curriculum is comprised of 420 clock hours) and includes the following courses:

  • IT Essentials
  • Network+ and Security for IoT; Blue Tooth; WiFi and others
  • Raspberry pi, Arduino and others
  • Sensors, Relays, Motors, Valves
  • PLC's and PLR's
  • Factory automation: Cloud with AWS; Azure; Google Cloud
  • DC/AC Theory; Passive components and circuits and Test and Measurements
  • Solid State Theory; components, basic circuits/Digital circuits and logic
  • Basic Math for Electronics
